A Message from your MP
Dear friends and neighbours,
As summer winds down, I want to take a moment to reflect on the season we’ve shared — one filled with connection, celebration, and continued commitment to the work that matters most to our community. Whether it was marching in the Vancouver Pride Parade, celebrating BC Day, or hearing from many of you at local events and festivals, I’ve been reminded time and again of the beauty, strength, and passion of Vancouver Granville.
Parliament will resume in September, and as your Member of Parliament, I will be heading back to Ottawa with a clear focus: to ensure your voice is heard on Parliament Hill. Over the next few months, I will continue advocating for the issues that matter most to our community — from affordable housing and economic opportunity to community safety and inclusive growth. I’ll be working alongside my Liberal colleagues to deliver meaningful progress and build a stronger, more resilient Canada for everyone.
Sincerely,
Taleeb Noormohamed, MP

August 2025 in Vancouver Granville
Pride in Vancouver
On the first weekend of August we celebrated love, inclusion, and diversity. Vancouver’s Pride Festival hosted over 100,000 people this year. It was a day that allowed me to reflect on the history of the pride parade in Vancouver and my commitment to the wellbeing and inclusion of the 2SLGBTQI+ community. I am proud to share that through the Federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan, the government has allocated up to $35 million over the course of five years (2022-2027) to support a range of projects addressing 2SLGBTQI+ concerns. As your MP I am committed to the ongoing support of the 2SLGBTQI+, making our community safe and equal for everyone. I want to stand firm on the idea that in Canada, you should never have to be scared to love who you love or be who you are.
Pacific Caucus Retreat
On July 14th and 15th, the Liberal MPs from across Western Canada got together to discuss pressing issues that our constituents have shared with us.
Over the course of two days we met with more than 20 stakeholders from across the province, addressing issues ranging from public safety to economic resilience. It provided us an opportunity to work across our respective ridings to focus on the issues that matter the most to all British Columbians. Meetings like this empower us to advocate on your behalf when we return to Ottawa in September.
British Columbia Day
On August 4th we came together to commemorate our beautiful province. This day served as a reminder of our province’s strengths, our resilience and our courage which has supported communities during these turbulent times.
Across British Columbia we can take pride in the richness of who we are. The agricultural strength in the province coincides with the technological innovation happening right here in Vancouver Granville. This alongside our natural beauty, local heritage and culture makes us proud to be British Columbians.
That pride in who we are has reflected itself throughout Vancouver Granville this BC day.
Helping Canadian Families Get Ahead
On July 18, qualified families across Canada are receiving greater support with an increased Canada Child Benefit (CCB).
This monthly, tax-free payment helps parents raise their children and cover everyday costs like groceries, school supplies, and child care. The increase is as follows:
Up to $7,997 per child under the age of 6
Up to $6,748 per child aged 6 through 17
For instance, a family with one child aged 5 and one aged 9, will receive around $11,000 this year as long as the family’s net income is that of $65,000.
This will allow over 3.5 million families and more than 6 million children to benefit from the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) each year. The CCB has already helped lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty.
Canada’s new government is focused on bringing down costs for Canadian families, because when families are strong, Canada is strong.
Summer So Far…
Throughout the summer I have had the chance to meet you in various events, meetings and festivals. These conversations provide me insights on what your priorities are. I will make sure to keep these dialogues in mind as Parliament resumes on September 15th. As we wrap up the summer, I will continue to hold important chats with the VanGran community in order to be the voice you deserve to have in the House of Commons.
